About the Level 1 Programme
Brain injuries can arise from many different causes, and no two people are the same. We each bring our own personality, background, medical history, and emotional needs to the recovery process. That’s why healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey. What I’ve learned—through both my medical career and my personal recovery after a life-changing brain injury—is that small, intentional steps can lead to powerful change. Lifestyle Medicine (LM) played a vital role in my own healing. It gave me structure, hope, and a toolkit for long-term well-being. I’ve had good days and tough ones—good years and harder ones—and through it all, what I needed most was reliable information and ongoing support. This introductory course is designed to gently introduce you to the foundations of Lifestyle Medicine. You’ll learn simple, practical strategies that can kick-start your healing and reduce the risk of long-term brain complications. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a supportive community that understands the ups and downs of recovery. We’ll explore the seven pillars of Lifestyle Medicine through engaging educational videos, quizzes, and written materials. You'll also have access to a welcoming online community, where you can ask questions, join webinars, and connect with others on similar journeys. I’m a retired medical practitioner with over 30 years of experience in Paediatrics and General Practice. Throughout my career, I was always deeply interested in Lifestyle Medicine (LM), but it wasn’t until a significant head injury forced me to leave clinical practice that I truly began to live it. That unexpected life change led me to take a deep dive into Lifestyle Medicine—not just as a theory, but as a practical, daily approach to recovery and well-being. I experienced firsthand both the challenges and the profound benefits of putting LM into action. Now, I’ve devoted this chapter of my life to education, support, and community. My mission is to share what I’ve learned and help others tap into the power of Lifestyle Medicine—so they too can take control of their health, one step at a time.
